The Young Eagles Program was launched at Oshkosh 1992 and has set a goal of providing 1 million young people around the world ages 8 through 17 with a free introductory airplane ride. These rides are provided through the generosity of volunteer EAA pilots and members of other authorized aviation organizations.

If you are interested in a local Young Eagle flight, please send us an e-mail with your name, age, phone number and address so that the local Young Eagle Director can provide you with additional information on how to arrange a FREE flight.

Chance of a Lifetime
for local girl

We have a winner of the Air Academy trip, the winner is Miss Bhakti Patel, who is a senior at Absegami High School and who, incidentally, is in the top ten percent of her class there. Miss Patel is also a student pilot who aspires to a career in aviation and who will continue her studies at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University this fall.

Charles Haury, Secretary of EAA Chapter 287 and Chairman of the EAA Chapter 287 Scholarship Committee, said today that Miss Patel is an outstanding  individual to attend The EAA Advanced Air Academy Camp which will be held from July 16 to July 25, 2007 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The EAA Air Academy has been in continuous operation since 1984, and is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). The Staff has well over 200 years of combined Academy experience and over 225 years of teaching and counseling. The Academy facilities are located on Pioneer Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the location of EAA Headquarters and also the site of the EAA Aviation Museum. The Webchat lasts one hour and takes place between 7 and 8 p.m. Central Time. Please visit http://www.youngeagles.org/webchat/ for more information. January's  featured guest is Maj. Rusty Keen, a United States Air Force Thunderbird pilot.

This hour of discussion is enjoyed by aviation enthusiasts -- both young and old -- as they are able to ask questions and receive live answers.
